Load In Assistance
If you can lift a box, heavy or not so heavy, and have available cycles on Thursday, please consider helping out the Logistics Team during Load-In. Most of the heaviest stuff is on wheels, and many groups will be picking up their stuff, so it shouldn't be hard, but strength and stamina will be an asset. Want to see Freight Elevators, and Back Hallways? This is the job for you. Want to get all your hours for a free membership and not miss any of the con? These hours all count double!
Load Out Help Monday and Tuesday

Proofreaders
We are looking for people to proofread material to be printed in the Pocket Program and Souvenir Book. If typos stand out for you like a sore thumb, we'd love to have your help.
This work will take place throughout the month of December.
Access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Attendees
Pre-con, this job includes reaching out to the ASL program at Northeastern, to see if we can get student interpreters, and reaching out to the Deaf community so they know what we have to offer. I will help with hiring of ASL interpreters and a Cart Provider, and well as making sure they get paid.
At con, follow through to make sure things go as planned, and ASL and CART providers have the infomation they need. A fuller description and more discussion can be had by emailing access@arisia.org.
Staff Den Setup
On Thursday/Friday of Arisia, we need physically able people to assist in unloading the truck/cars of food, carting it up to Staff Den, and assisting in setting up staff den. They should take directions well.
Teen Lounge Volunteers
Teens making sure that other teens have fun at Arisia, to work two or three hours a day in the teen lounge. Enforce the teen lounge rules and keep the atmosphere right. You must be between the ages of 13 and 20.
At Con Registration Staff
Do you want to welcome everyone to Arisia? Are you calm under pressure as well as friendly?
At Con Registration Staff need to be able to use a computer well (search, point and click), follow written procedures, maintain a happy, helpful presence in the face of thousands of attendees, and handle money and credit card machines accurately. The work is not physically demanding, but requires a lot of mental and social engagement with few breaks.
They should plan to attend one of the training sessions in December, the Thursday before con, or midday Friday, and work at least 12 hours at con, as per a schedule.
Staff Den Prep Assistants
The back of house staff must take a food safety class (online) prior to Arisia (unless they are already certified, due to work). If they have taken this course, they will be able to defrost and prepare food for the coming meals. They will heat the food for the current meal. They will work closely with the area heads for Staff Den, and should take direction well.
These people will be needed at every major meal time on all four days of con (Friday - Monday).
Art Show Builders
Use a wrench, follow plans, assemble an Art Show and tear it down again. This job takes place Thursday and Sunday or Monday.
At Con Registration Volunteer
Do you want a place to sit on Friday afternoon? Can you be helpful and friendly?
Arisia Registration needs to get 3,000 people through the front doors as quickly and happily as possible Friday afternoon and evening. If you can use a computer and be a welcoming face for attendees, we'd love your help! While not physically demanding, the pace is very fast and requires mental and emotional energy and resilience.
Staff Den Servers
We need several people to make a welcoming, comfortable place for staff at Staff Den. The responsibilities for this job will be distributed between the 2 - 4 people working a given shift, and may include keeping staff den tidy and stocked, brewing coffee, and making people welcome. Flexibility and a smile count more than cooking abilities for this role.
Program Division Technical Support
We are looking for one or more people to help with supporting Zambia, the web application used for scheduling Arisia. We need help with documentation, training, answering users' support questions, and gathering & prioritizing requirements for usability improvements. This is an ongoing and open-ended need. We are happy to have someone help with any piece of this need they are able to carve out.
The training is mostly early fall and the support is mostly all fall. The other work is open-ended and any time.
Ops Desk Volunteers
This person will staff the Ops Desk, providing information and things like blue tape for convention staffers. Must be able to answer phone and take notes. Ability to use a computer and printer desired.
This job is at-con only, in short shifts (between 2 and 4 hours long). We'll train!
Staff Den Packing Ninjas
At the end of Con, Staff Den will need some assistance in packing materials for storage, and keeping good inventory. This person should be skilled in one of two manners: good at playing tetris with items in bins OR good at carrying packed bins down to trucks. This is at the end of con, on Monday afternoon.
